Termite Inspections & Treatments

Contrary to popular beliefs Subterranean Termites ( White Ants ) are easy to find, If you know what to look for.

Subterranean Termites are present in and around most homes and gardens.

One in four homes either currently have or have had at some time been attacked by subterranean termites causing millions of dollars worth of damage every year.

In Australia we have over 300 different species of termites , but fortunately , many termite species pose no threat to our homes or properties.

The tricky bit is knowing which species of termite is a threat to your home and how to locate an infestation and how to deal appropriately with them.

That’s why it is important to have REGULAR VISUAL TERMITE INSPECTIONS carried out in accordance with Australian Standard 3660.2 – 2000 by our fully Accredited and Qualified inspectors every year.

If we suspect that an area may have an infestation of termites but cannot be sure , we would then recommend a more invasive inspection , BORESCOPE , be carried out.

BORESCOPE INSPECTIONS allow us to see into wall cavities , bulk heads and any other suspect areas by drilling a 10mm hole and inserting the Borescope.

The Borescope has its own light source built into the end of the scope.

There are 2 types of Borescopes:

The difference between them is that the Flexible Borescope has a fixed focus view , whereas the Rigid Borescope has a focusable view allowing for better vision.

If the thought of holes being drilled or cut into your walls and other cavities does not appeal to you , or you may not be allowed to or want any damage caused , we can carry out aTHERMAL IMAGING INSPECTION that will allow us to pin point areas that would require further investigation.

A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA is used to detect temperature variations in the areas being checked .

To a qualified and trained Technician this can then be used to determine if there are any signs of current or past termite infestation

A Thermal Imaging Inspection should only be carried out in conjunction with a Visual Termite Inspection.

What should I do if I suspect I have a termite problem?

1) DON’T PANIC – Whilst some termite species can cause large amounts of damage to your home , it doesn’t happen overnight . It can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for termites to start causing any damage to your home , so another day or two is not going to be a problem.

2) DO NOT SPRAY OR DESTROY TERMITES / TERMITE WORKINGS – This will make it harder for our technician to assess the species of termite attacking your home and may cause them to attack other areas of your home.

3) CALL US IMMEDIATELY – A qualified technician will come and inspect your home to determine the severity of the infestation and recommend the appropriate course of treatment required.

Termite Treatments

Termite treatments to most homes can be divided into 2 main categories,

1.CHEMICAL BARRIERS
2.TERMITE BAITING SYSTEMS

Chemical Barriers

This is where a termiticide chemical is applied to form a continuous barrier which either repels termites (Repellant Barrier) or will affect the termites when they pass through the treated zone (Non Repellant Barrier) .

In theory these barriers are great for controlling termites , but in practice , they are difficult to install.

Invariably damage to finished surfaces such as tiles , timber floors over concrete slabs and the need to lift carpets or other floor coverings will occur , because of the need to drill into floor slabs , paths or pavers to form the continuous barrier.

Even having done the best job possible , there is still an element of doubt as to whether the chemical barrier is complete , because we have no idea what shortcuts the builder may have taken during the construction of your home.

Termite Baiting Systems

Termite Baiting has become the preferred method of controlling termites in and around homes for most pest control firms.

The advatages of baiting systems over chemical barriers:

  • Environmentally Friendly – Bait is only used where termites are active.
  • Eliminates the termite nest – A termite nest may be up to 50 – 100 metres from your home.
  • No need to cause damage to any finished surfaces not already damaged by termites.
  • Minimal chemical useage – when termite infestation is eliminated all termite bait is removed.
  • Safe for pets , non target insects , people and the environment
  • On going monitoring means that your home is well looked after.

Rodents https://sps.flowinthost.com.au/services/rodents/ Wed, 16 Sep 2026 05:10:18 +0000 https://sps.flowinthost.com.au/?post_type=cpt_services&p=168

Reliable Rodent Control in Sydney: Protecting Your Home and Business

Sydney’s unique blend of bustling urban centres, stunning waterways, and lush suburbs makes it a fantastic place to live and work. Unfortunately, this diverse environment is also highly attractive to rodents. Rats and mice are more than just a nuisance; they pose serious health and safety risks to both residential and commercial properties.

If you are hearing scratching in the roof or finding chewed packaging in the pantry, it is time to act. Our local Sydney pest control experts are here to provide safe, effective, and lasting rodent control solutions tailored to your property.

The Rodent Problem: Why You Need to Act Fast

Rodents breed at an alarming rate. What starts as a couple of mice seeking shelter from the winter cold can quickly escalate into a full-blown infestation. In Sydney, the most common culprits are the Roof Rat, the Norway Rat, and the House Mouse.

Leaving a rodent issue untreated can lead to severe consequences:

  • Health Risks: Rodents carry and transmit harmful diseases, including Salmonella and Leptospirosis, easily contaminating food and food preparation surfaces.

  • Property Damage: Their constantly growing teeth mean they gnaw on almost anything to keep them filed down. This includes structural timber, insulation, and plasterboard.

  • Fire Hazards: Rodents frequently chew through electrical wiring, which is a leading, hidden cause of unexplained house and business fires.

  • Commercial Impact: For businesses, particularly in the hospitality and retail sectors, a single rodent sighting can ruin a hard-earned reputation, fail health audits, and lead to temporary closures.

Signs You Have a Rodent Infestation

Because rodents are naturally secretive and mostly nocturnal, you are far more likely to see the signs of their presence before you spot the pests themselves. Keep a close eye out for:

  • Droppings: Small, dark, pellet-like droppings found in cupboards, under sinks, or along skirting boards.

  • Strange Noises: Scratching, scurrying, or squeaking sounds coming from the roof cavity or inside the walls, particularly at night.

  • Gnaw Marks: Chewed food packaging, damaged electrical cables, or fresh bite marks on timber furniture and door frames.

  • Grease Rubs: Dark, greasy smear marks along walls and skirting boards where rodents frequently travel using the same established routes.

  • Nesting Materials: Shredded paper, fabric, or dried plant matter gathered in hidden, dark, and warm corners.

Our Safe and Effective Rodent Solution

We understand that safety is your absolute top priority. Our rodent control programmes are specifically designed to eliminate the infestation while keeping your family, pets, and employees completely safe. We avoid dangerous, indiscriminate baiting and instead focus on a targeted, integrated pest management approach.

Our proven process includes:

  1. Thorough Inspection: We meticulously assess your property to identify the exact rodent species, locate their harbourage areas, and find their primary entry points.

  2. Targeted Treatment: We utilise highly effective, tamper-resistant bait stations that are safely locked away from inquisitive children and pets. We may also deploy strategically placed, humane snap traps in high-activity zones.

  3. Exclusion and Proofing: To ensure long-term success, we advise on sealing structural entry points and eliminating accessible food and water sources to minimise the risk of future invasions.

  4. Ongoing Monitoring: For commercial premises, we offer ongoing pest management programmes to maintain a strict, rodent-free environment year-round, ensuring compliance with local health regulations.

Bees & Wasps https://sps.flowinthost.com.au/services/bees-wasps/ Wed, 16 Sep 2026 05:08:46 +0000 https://sps.flowinthost.com.au/?post_type=cpt_services&p=165

Expert Bee and Wasp Control in Sydney: Protecting Your Home and Business

Sydney’s sunny climate and beautiful outdoor spaces are perfect for entertaining and relaxing, but they also create the ideal environment for stinging insects. While bees and wasps are a natural part of our local ecosystem, they can quickly turn a peaceful backyard or a bustling commercial courtyard into a no-go zone.

If you are noticing a constant swarm around your eaves, fencing, or garden, it is time to call in the professionals. Our local Sydney pest control experts are here to provide safe, highly effective, and environmentally responsible solutions for all your bee and wasp issues.

The Stinging Insect Problem: Why You Need to Act Fast

While bees are essential pollinators that we strive to protect, species like the European Wasp and the native Paper Wasp can pose a severe threat to your safety. A small nest on your property can rapidly expand to house thousands of highly aggressive insects during the warmer months.

Ignoring a buzzing hive or nest can lead to serious consequences:

  • Health Emergencies: Wasp and bee stings are incredibly painful. For family members, employees, or customers with allergies, a single sting can trigger anaphylaxis, which is a life-threatening medical emergency.

  • Aggressive Behaviour: Unlike honeybees, which generally only sting when physically threatened, European wasps are highly aggressive and territorial. They can sting multiple times and are heavily attracted to sweet foods and pet bowls.

  • Property Damage: Wasps often build massive nests inside wall cavities, roof voids, and retaining walls. The moisture and size of these nests can cause structural damage and ruin plasterboard.

  • Commercial Impact: For cafes, restaurants, and outdoor event venues, swarming wasps can terrify patrons, ruin alfresco dining experiences, and lead to negative reviews and lost revenue.

Signs You Have a Bee or Wasp Infestation

It is crucial to identify a nest early before the colony grows out of control. Watch out for these key indicators around your residential or commercial property:

  • High Insect Traffic: A constant, busy stream of bees or wasps flying back and forth from a specific, pinpointed entry hole on your building’s exterior.

  • Visible Nests: Grey, papery, honeycomb-like structures hanging from eaves and tree branches, or dense swarms clumped on fences and brickwork.

  • Loud Buzzing Noises: A distinct, persistent humming or buzzing sound coming from inside your interior walls, roof voids, or garden sheds.

  • Chewed Timber Fences: Some wasp species chew on unpainted wooden fences or outdoor furniture to harvest wood fibres for building their papery nests.

Our Safe and Responsible Solution

Attempting to remove a nest yourself with store-bought sprays is highly dangerous and will almost certainly provoke a defensive swarm. We prioritise the total safety of your family, pets, and staff, whilst strictly adhering to environmentally responsible practices.

Our proven, safety-first process includes:

  1. Thorough Inspection: We carefully assess the situation to identify the exact species. Distinguishing between a vital honeybee swarm and an aggressive European wasp nest is our most critical first step.

  2. Responsible Bee Relocation: Whenever possible, we partner with local Sydney apiarists to safely capture and relocate honeybee swarms without harming these essential pollinators.

  3. Targeted Wasp Eradication: For dangerous wasp nests, we utilise specialised protective gear and highly effective, targeted insecticidal dusts or sprays to quickly and safely neutralise the colony.

  4. Nest Removal and Proofing: Once the colony is eradicated, we physically remove the nest if it is accessible. We then provide expert advice on sealing cracks, gaps, and entry points to deter future insects from settling on your property.

Enjoy Your Outdoors Safely

As your trusted local Sydney pest control company, we have the technical expertise and protective equipment required to handle dangerous stinging insects. Don’t let wasps hold you hostage indoors. Protect your property, your health, and your peace of mind so you can enjoy your outdoor spaces safely again.

General Pest Spray

When treating for a general pest problem, we first assess the customers requirements in regards to what pests need to be controlled , if the customer has any preference for a particular type of insecticide and any other concerns they might have.

WE ONLY USE AND RECOMMEND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY INSECTICIDES THAT ARE REGISTERED FOR USE ON THE TARGET PESTS.

We then carry out a risk assessment of the areas that need to be treated , (gardens , interior , exterior , garage , roof void and subfloor areas) to check for any possible problems with pets , fish , waterways , washing on the clothes line , proximity of the neighbours or anything else that may be at risk before we start any treatment.

We also practice INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT strategies.

This is the use of NON CHEMICAL practices to prevent and lessen the possibility of re infestation of pests and to change conditions around the home to make the environment around your home less welcoming to pests and rodents.

This can be as simple as trimming trees away from the home or cleaning up an area used for storage that has gotten out of hand and sealing up of holes or cracks that rodents or insects would use to gain access to your home.
